I had the best time in Mammoth Cave this summer when we went camping with the Dye family on Cedar Mountain. We took the new trailer and learned how to camp from the experts! (Thanks Ryan and Kim!)
Anyway.....first of all if you haven't read "the HOST" by Stephenie Meyer, shame on you, you're missing out...and you won't get this post about my day in a lava tube!!! It was sooo stinking cool and I wanted to yell, "Wanda, Ian, Uncle Jeb, are you out there??" If you've read the book you know what I am talking about. I know NERD for sure, but it was VERY COOL to see a cave like the one described in the book.
So class, what did we learn from this little story? If Jenny can read Science Fiction and LOVE IT!!!! SO CAN YOU!! Who knew!?!?!? I was skeptical, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ray asked me if I would have gone in a pitch black cave with just a flashlight if I hadn't just read the book, I wish I could say yes, but Ah, NO WAY..... Second thing we all learned... reading a good book can get a wimpy dud (ME) to climb through a dark cave, with mud and ice and SHARP rocks with her kids, just to see how it might feel to live in one....;) Read the book if you haven't....
